Some outdoor pieces are too well-loved to replace with standard store-bought options. For this project, a client’s cherished outdoor bench had succombed to years of weather rot, so we stepped in to build an exact custom replacement from scratch.
Using durable, high-grade cedar, I recreated the dimensions and character of the original bench so it fit seamlessly back into its familiar spot. To protect the wood naturally, we finished the piece with multiple coats of tung oil—deeply nourishing the cedar, highlighting its warm grain, and providing years of water-resistant protection to keep it looking fresh through New England seasons.
